Background

The radio station was initially launched in 2005 as part of the Valley Leisure Centre development - now PVLC.  Throughout it's life it has had many names, including HAN FM and KSS Radio, and has now been renamed Valley FM.

At Valley FM we tackle issues of concern to young people today, including antisocial behaviour, drugs, alcohol and bullying. We raise self esteem, confidence, improve social skills, communication skills and enhance different learning skills.

We aim to promote young peoples intellectual, creative and professional growth and to strengthen their foundation in life skills, verbal expression, writing, computer technology, critical thinking and conflict and more through use of training and access to media technology and the production and performance of original media. Children and young people are producing a variety of shows from music, chat, discussion forums, plays and more that are published online. Publishing work online also encourages young people to work harder and to achieve higher aspirations.
