Dear members, customers, supporters and friends,
As you may already be aware, Kent County Council is currently considering the closure of Pent Valley Technology College and Sports Academy.
If the school were to close, it is currently unclear as to how the leisure centre would be affected, however the official report proposing the closure of Pent Valley, which was submitted to the Education and Young Person’s Services Cabinet Committee, includes the following statement;
“The importance of Pent Valley Leisure Centre to the local community is recognised and options for its future if Pent Valley Technology College were to close would be explored with other local partners including local schools and colleges, and Shepway District Council. The views of Leisure Centre users would be sought as part of the consultation process.”
The future is still uncertain, however it is clear from the statement above, as well as confirmation from the Chair of Governors of Pent Valley, that it is hoped that PVLC will remain open, even if the school were to close.
As yet, no final decision on the future of the school has been made and I will of course keep you informed as soon as I learn more.
For now we are open as usual and we will be making every effort to ensure that we remain that way.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Pent Valley Leisure Centre
