Pent Valley's large and vibrant Library forms a valued central resource within the school, providing study and research facilities, and many additional services for all pupils and staff.

Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm

Fiction  
The latest story books are ready to read, shelved under the authors last name.

Non-Fiction
Fact books for your personal interest are shelved under their Dewey Decimal Classification number, according to the subject.


Homework Help

GCSE and A level revision guides can be found in the Study Zone on the Mezzanine floor.

The Learning Resource Centre is open daily from 3:20pm - 4:30pm for Homework Club.  Drinks and biscuits supplied.

ECLIPSE.NET

The online catalogue in the Learning Resource Centre is called ECLIPSE.NET.

This resource is available to all  pupils and staff to check whether resources are available in the Learning Resource Centre.

Books can be requested and renewed on line through ECLIPSE.NET.
 
How to use ECLIPSE.NET

Log into ECLIPSE.NET through the Library Catalogue Icon on the Portal, and your own account will be recognised.

To search a Subject, type the subject that you are researching, into the search bar.

To search an Author, type the author’s name into the search bar.

*Remember to put the surname first.*

To search a Title, type the title you are looking for into the search bar.

To search a Keyword, type the appropriate keywords into the search bar .
e.g. football, war, mystery.

To search a Series,  type the series you are looking for into the search bar .
e.g. Harry Potter.

How to find a book on the shelf

If the book is non-fiction,

look under the classification number on the spine of the book
e.g. 796.33.  = Football

If the book is fiction,

look under the first three letters of the authors surname on the spine of the book
e.g. Wilson, Jacqueline —WIL.
 
Quick Read books can be found in the same order as above, and are identified on the catalogue by the prefix 'E'.
