Dear Applicant

Thank you for downloading our Post 16 Options Booklet, which I hope you will find useful and interesting.

The purpose of the booklet is to provide the information you need about Pent Valley Technology College and the courses available.

Some key points about Pent Valley:

- the only specialist Technology College in the area, redesignated as a second phase Technology College in 2007/08

- a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which enables you and your parents to access work and other information at any  time from your home computer

- a full service extended school meaning facilities are open from 8.00am through to 5.00pm

- reduced membership rates at our own state of the art sports and leisure facilities, Pent Valley Leisure Centre

- industry standard motor vehicle garage and hairdressing salon

- commercial standard ‘bistro’ facilities

- a personal computer for you when you join in september 2011

Pent Valley Technology College firmly believes in all students being known and treated as individuals. For this reason since September 2008, the school has been re-organized into five smaller mini schools. One of these, Dyson Mini School,  is our own specialist Post-16 provision. Dyson Mini School provides the opportunity for you to study a range of subjects at level 2 and level 3. Courses lead to further and higher education at 18 or 19 and into the world of work.

Our flexible, individualised approach will enable you to combine academic, applied and BTEC subjects to focus on areas of strength.

The Dyson Mini School has its own facilities above the leisure centre. This provides you with a focal point to register, have lessons and access the wireless internet network on your laptop computer. We will provide private study periods to facilitate individual research for projects and assignments. You will have access to the school, its rooms as well as the school learning resource centre and careers library.

Key skills qualifications and short courses such as first aid and the community sports leadership award are also offered as part of a wider enrichment programme. You will take part in a community based service where you will work in the school environment thus giving you a unique experience to provide you with an advantage in work and university applications. The Duke of Edinburgh gold award scheme is also in operation.

Make Pent Valley Technology College your first choice for Post 16 education
