Pent Valley School Year 10 Citizenship students, Jessica Griffiths, Brandon Shaw, Cai Worrall and Annie Hope, planned and organised the events that took place in school during Comic Relief on Friday 13th March.
The group arranged a cake sale, with Year 10 Food Technology students making the produce. They co-ordinated with the P.E. staff to organised Zorb Football matches between the lower years, plus a staff versus 6th Formers match during the lunch break. Students were charged to watch this competition from the viewing gallery in the Dyson complex. The zorbs were provided by the company ‘Xtreme Soccer’, who not only provided the zorbs, but also fully trained co-ordinators, ensuring that the events ran safely and smoothly.
In addition the group ran a raffle and persuaded Mr Citro, the Head Teacher, to let all students participate for a nominal fee, in a non-school uniform day. The finale of events was a dance-at-thon, with sponsored students dancing continuously until the end of the school day.
With the amount raised totalling £718.60 Mario Citro Head Teacher said;
“This was an extremely well planned and organised day, full of events. I would like to offer my congratulations to the whole group who managed to include all members of the school in a variety of events, and to raise money for such a worthy cause.”
